Today, we’re opening the registration for Bitnorth up to the general public. We have a few spots left. If you’ve got something to share, like to party, and fancy a scruffy weekend in the Canadian wilderness with 50 or so smart, fun people, Bitnorth may be just what you need this September.

Some Bitnorth shots from recent years. Disney orgasms, pig surgery, robots, drink instructions, poker, Slacklining, Belly Dancing. Ahem.

A word of caution, however. Bitnorth isn’t for everyone.

It’s not structured. It’s not polished. And it’s definitely not a sales or networking event. Anything remotely resembling a pitch will quickly be shot down, and that person will be asked to leave, immediately. We (okay, I) run this at a considerable loss each year, because, well, it’s worth it. You may be a really nice person, but if you’re not (a) someone with interesting things to share who (b) is a lot of fun to drink with, it’s probably not for you.

If you want a sense of what it’s like, check out Ignite. Then check out TED. Then read this piece on Foo Camp. Then look at this list of presentations from our 2009 event. Then read some of the reasons this year’s returning alumni said they’re coming back:

Best event of the year. I wouldn’t miss it for just about anything (and I might be missing my Mom coming to visit us for it ;))

New ideas, new connections, stronger relationships with old connections.

I am coming to Bitnorth because it’s the Happiest Place on Earth.

New ideas, new connections, stronger relationships with old connections.

I always meet great people there, and it’s very low pressure.

I had to drop last year at the last minute and it’s been eating away at my soul ever since.

To see friends, old and new; to expand and invigorate my mind and spirit. TO LEARN AND GROW. to have fun.

To experience something different.

A chance to have interesting conversations with smart and fascinating people, and get inspired with new ideas.

To meet and hangout in pool of awesome. Inspiration and more!

I looking forward to hanging out with awesome people. And I hope to walk away inspired and itching to get back to work.

I love the discussions and presentations. The atmosphere always makes me think more creatively. I feel like a shinier person at the end.
